> Benetússer made a campaign for energy-saving measures aimed at families and businesses in the municipality in november 9, 2020. This campaign is still trying to get acomplished . This initiative, in which the Valencian cooperative Aeioluz is collaborating, aims to inform, train and advise the public on alternative energy consumption with which they can reduce their electricity bills and, at the same time, be more respectful of the environment. The project has three phases of work that aim to provide families and businesses with the necessary tools to know how to choose the option that best suits their possibilities.
> This project, in addition to focusing attention on the growing energy vulnerability resulting from Covid-19, is another step in the Benetusian council's commitment to comply with the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy signed by more than 6,500 municipalities across Europe.
> To this end, "the project has three phases of work with which it is intended to provide families and businesses with the necessary tools to know how to choose the option that best suits their possibilities," said Mª Dolores Tarín, Councilor for the Environment.
> On the other hand, Benetússer has lately received the visit of the Office of Energy Transition and Accompaniment OTEA, launched by the Generalitat Valenciana with the aim of changing the current energy model. This office visited Benetússer on february 9th of this year, and they deployed an information tent in the Town Hall square and a talk was held in the plenary hall, which was well attended by residents of the municipality.
> Alternatives to the current energy system, based mainly on renewable and polluting fossil fuels, were proposed, through a commitment to renewable energies, the promotion of self-consumption, the use of decarbonised technologies, as well as the empowerment of local energy communities.
